The '59 Sound

Lyrics:
Well, I wonder which song they're gonna play when we go.
I hope it's something quiet and minor and peaceful and slow.
When we float out into the ether, into the Everlasting Arms,
I hope we don't hear Marley's chains we forged in life.
'Cause the chains I been hearing now for most of my life.

Did you hear the '59 Sound coming through on Grandmama's radio?
Did you hear the rattling chains in the hospital walls?
Did you hear the old gospel choir when they came to carry you over?
Did you hear your favorite song one last time?

And I wonder were you scared when the metal hit the glass?
See, I was playing a show down the road
When your spirit left your body.
And they told me on the front lawn.
I'm sorry I couldn't go,
But I still know the song and the words and her name and the reasons.
And I know 'cause we were kids and we used to hang.

[Chorus]

Young boys, young girls, ain't supposed to die on a Saturday night.

[Chorus]

although I find it impossible to make a top 10 list {top 20 might be doable}, this song is #1 in any list.

I wouldn't put this at #1, but it is toward the top 15 on my list.

I respect your opinion. If everyone had the sme one it would be a pretty boring world. Sometimes ones favorite song has more to do with situations associated with a song as much as the music itself.

So true, thats why Ida call you woody joe is my all time and will remain my all time favorite gaslight song and song. I remember when I was in 8th grade, I got the video game Skate 2 and I would have my friends come over and hang out and play it after a long day of going skating. And when ever I hear that song, I remember the good old days back then when there was no work to worry about and it was just my friends and I going skating and playing video games.
